CHIMNEY CLEANING & SAFETY
INSPECTIONS
When
we clean your chimney, we cover all five parts that
make up your chimney:
- Firebox (where you burn the fire)
- Damper (what you open and close)
- Smoke Chamber (above the damper connecting the flue)
- Flue (the area all the way up to the top)
- Smoke Shelf (where the dirty stuff resides like creosote, bird nests,
etc.)
A very important part of the service we provide to you when cleaning your
chimney is a 21 Point Safety Inspection. We check for
any visible problems and have the expertise and tools to find even hidden
ones.
One way we can find those problems is
by using our Roto-Vision video inspection equipment.
By using a tiny camera equipped with night vision, we can inspect as
close as an inch of your chimney's walls and flue while watching from
a television monitor. This type of inspection is not used or necessary
for every chimney, but when we suspect a problem, it's an invaluable
tool for identifying the issue.
Another inspection technique we utilize
is called a smoke test. What we do is close off the
top and bottom of your chimney and then add a safe smoke "pellet" that
will show any leaks your chimney might have.
Not every inspection will need to include
the techniques explained above. An important part of how we decide
what techniques to use is based on the comments from the house owner.
Be sure to tell us about any concerns you have with your chimney and
we can discuss them thoroughly.
